Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x="oz of 8%", so 36-x="oz of 5%"
(8%)(x)+(5%)(36-x)=(6%)(36) __ multiplying by 100 to clear percentages
8x+180-5x=216 __ 3x=36
Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(total amount of salt) / (amount of solution) = 6%
Let = amount of 8% solution to be added
Let = amount of 5% solution to be added
multiply both sides by
oz
12 oz of the 8% solution and 24 oz of the 5% solution are needed
check:
OK
