Question 1210639: Came across this log table:
log 1.1 = 0.04139 393 783 1169 1551 1931 2307 2680 3049 3416
I compared these numbers with another log table and the numbers differ. Would someone give an explanation for the difference ? Thanks.
Note: Each 3 and 4 digit numbers are separated, not one large number.

According to two different sources....

log(1.1) = 0.04139 2685 1582 251...

Apparently the log table you quote is not displaying the actual value of the log to several decimal places; the digits after the initial "0.4139" have a different meaning. The meanings of those additional strings of digits are probably described in the reference where you got this; without seeing that explanation we can't tell you what they mean.
