this would be interpreted in a couple of ways.

this interpretation assumes that, once she placed the two dollar notes into the red packets, she did not have them in her possession any longer.

when she started, she had x two dollar notes and x ten dollar notes.

she then took .4x two dollar notes and put them in red packets.

she now had .6x two dollar notes and x ten dollar notes in her possession.

she then added 20% more ten dollar notes to her possession.

she now had .6x two dollar notes and 1.2x ten dollar notes in her possession.

the number of ten dollar notes in her possession was now 30 more than the number of two dollar notes in her possession.

the equation for this is 1.2x = .6x + 30.

subtract .6x from both sides of this equation to get .6x = 30.

solve for x to get x = 50.
