x = amount of juice Bob starts with
Amount is in liters.

x-117 = amount Bob ends up with after giving 117 liters.

x/2 = 0.5x = amount of juice Sonya starts with
0.5x+117 = amount Sonya ends with after receiving 117 liters.

Her final amount is 5/7 of Bob's final amount
0.5x+117 = (5/7)(x-117)
7(0.5x+117) = 5(x-117)
3.5x+819 = 5x-585
3.5x-5x = -585-819
-1.5x = -1404
x = -1404/(-1.5)
x = 936

Answer: Bob started with 936 liters of orange juice.
