You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9 juice=5 fruit cups
1 fruit cup=.50 more than soup
soup=.50 more than 1 juice

therefore, the cost of 1 juice is the unknown and we'll say use the variable x as its value
1 juice=x
soup=(x+.50)
fruit cup=(x+.50)+.50

9juice=5 fruit cups
9(x)=(5)(x+1)
9x=5x+5 <--subtract 5x from both sides
(9x)-5x=(5x+5)-5x
4x=5 <--divide both sides by 4
4x%2F4=5%2F4
x=1.25

since 1 juice=x and x=1.25 1 juice=$1.25
soup=(x+.50)=1.25+.50=$1.75
fruit cup=(x+.50)+.50=1.25+.50+.50=$2.25

juice=$1.25, soup=$1.75, fruit cup=$2.25

check: 9juice=5 fruit
9(1.25)=5(2.25)
11.25=11.15
