I certainly would not work the problem using those ugly fractions of hours, as the other tutor did....
The allotted time was from 7:00 to 9:50, which is 2 hours and 50 minutes, or 170 minutes.
The time remaining is from 9:14 to 9:50, which is 36 minutes.
The fraction of the allotted time remaining is 36/170 = 18/85.
ANSWER: 18/85
