            This time, the formulation is damaged, because the question does not tell,
            HOW MANY grad C eggs does Nicole really buy.

            I will assume that the question states that she buys 4 grade C eggs
                (to support total number of eggs unchangeable: 2 + 2 = 4 eggs).

The prices of eggs are 7x (grade A), 5x (grade B), and 4x (grade C).


So, if Nicole buys 2 each of grades A and B, then the total money she spends is  2*(7x+5x) = 2*12x = 24x.


If Nicole buys 4 eggs of grade C, then she spends 4*(4x) = 16x money.
