Question 1188442: A tank contains 123,456,789 cu. in. of water. Calculate vol. (gal.) and weight.
Check my calculations, please.
Cu. in. = 0.00433 gal.
Gal. = 8.33 lbs.

123,456,789 * 0.00433 = 534,567.89 = 534,568 gal.
534,568 * 8.33 = 4,452,951.44 = 4,452,951 lbs.
4,452,951 / 2000 = 2226.47 = 2,226 tons.

Looking at it a different way, 1 ft^3 of water is 1728 in^3, and that weighs 62.45 pounds.
1 gallon=231 cubic inches
so there are 534,444.97 gallons, the difference being in the rounding.
1 gallon=8.34 pounds of water so 4457271.08 pounds or 2228.64 tons.
