Denise should pay  1200  dollars for the 1st jacket and  (1-0.35)*1200 = 0.65*1200 = 780 dollars for the 2nd jacket,

according to the problem.  (We do not consider tax).


In all, she must pay  1200 + 0.65*1200 = (1 + 0.65)*1200 = 1.65*1200 = 1980 dollars.


If she pays $2000 to a cashier, she will get change back of  $2000 - $1980 = $20.    ANSWER
