.
A farm had some cows and goats. 1/5 of the cows and 3/11 of the goats were sold .
There was an equal number of cows and goats left.
If there were 704 cows and goats left, how many were on the farm at first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From the condition, the number of cows left is  704/2 = 352;  the number of goats left is the same, 352.
Next,  of the cows (what is left) is 352;  hence the number of cows initially was   = 440;
       of the goats (what is left) is 352;  hence the number of goats initially was   = 484.
Solved.
