An hour into the hike, half of the hikers decided they were too tired to go on and turned around and went back to camp. Five hikers decided to go for a swim in the lake. Seven hikers got a ride back to camp in the ranger’s van. Nine hikers were left to finish the hike around the lake. How many campers were there in the beginning?
