Find the volume of the 40 by 30 by 10 hole, and then divide that by 25. That gives you the number of cubic feet that 20 men can dig in one day. Multiply that by 3 to get the number of cubic feet that 60 men can dig in one day. Divide the volume of the big tank by the number of cubic feet that 60 men can dig in one day to find the number of days for 60 men to dig the big tank.

In first scenario, the volume of the tank is  40*30*10 = 12000 cubic feet.

In second scenario, the volume of the tank is  90*60*20 = 108000 cubic feet.

and the rate of work is   =  cubic feet per day per man, where x is an unknown number of days.



Assuming that the rate of work is the same in both scenarios, we have this equation
