Question 117150: A ball is thrown downward from a window in a tall building . its position at time t in seconds is s=16t^2+32t s is in feet. how long (to the nearest tenth) will is take the ball to fall 149 feet.
Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
S=16T^2+32T
149=16T^2+32T
16T^2+32T-149=0
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION WE GET:
T=(-32+-SQRT[32^2-4*16*-149])/2*16
T=(-32+-SQRT[1024+9536])/32
T=(-32+SQRT[10,560])/32
T=(-32+-102.76)/32
T=(-32+102.76)/32
T=(-32+102.76)/32
T=70.76/32
T=2.21 SECOND FOR THE ANSWER.
