If you took all of the earnings and divided them into four piles so that each pile contained $30, how much money would there be altogether?

John

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

.

The business should make 30*(1+4) = 30*5 = 150 dollars total earnings.

Assuming that all the business' earning is spend to compensate sellers . . . // (which is usually not the case . . . .

But we can assume it for the sake getting the solution to the problem).

Notice the difference between my statement and the John' statement:

I multiply $30 by 5 (five), while John assumes to multiply by 4.
