If he is plowing a single furrow at a time, then it is as if he is plowing a rectangular field 1 acre in size and 10 inches = 5/6 feet wide. The length of the rectangle in feet would be

In order for the formulation be correct, the problem must say HOW MANY FURROWS a machine makes at a time.


To understand better how a plowing machines works, go to Google with the key words "plowing machine" and look to the images.


With the distance of 10" = 0.8333 feet between furrows, the machine CERTAINLY makes MORE THAN 1 FURROW at a time.
