Question 1155460: Hi, can you help me solve this question?
I am doing it with the calculator these are the steps that I am doing
STAT, TInterval, Input: Stats, X: 31, Sx:15, n:14, C-Level:.95
This is what I got (22.339, 39.661)
but this is incorrect and I don't know what I am doing wrong.

In a survey, 14 people were asked how much they spent on their child's last birthday gift. The results were roughly bell-shaped with a mean of $31 and standard deviation of $15. Estimate how much a typical parent would spend on their child's birthday gift (use a 95% confidence level).
Give your answers to one decimal place. Provide the point estimate and margin or error.

Thank you

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The numbers of the interval are correct both by calculator and by the formula doing by hand.
The point estimate is $31.0
The margin of error is +/-$8.66 or $8.7
The interval per se was not asked for and the results need to be one decimal place as odd as that is for dollars. Perhaps that may be the issue.
