Question 114615: One of the fastest supercomputers in the world is NEC's Earth Simulator, which operates at a top-end of 40 teraflops (forty trillion operations per second or 4.0 x 10^13). How long would it take this computer to perform 250 million calculations? Express answer in standard notation.
I know the answer is a fraction of a second, but can't come up with the formula. Can someone advise please? Thank you!

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
250*10^6/40*10^13
2.5*10^8/4.0*10^14
2.5/4*1/10^(-6)
.625*10^(-6)
OR:
.000000625 SECONDS TO PERFORM 250,000,000 OPERATIONS.
