Question 1145992: Rupert drove home at an average rate of 625 mph. Find his rate in feet per second. Round to the nearest 10th Found 5 solutions by Theo, josgarithmetic, MathTherapy, ikleyn, Alan3354:Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! his rate is 625 miles per hour.
the number of seconds in on hour is equal to 60 * 60 = 3600.
the rate per second is therefore 625 / 3600 = .173611111..... miles per second.
there are 5280 feet in a mile, therefore the rate is .17361111... * 5280 = 916.6666666..... feet per second.
this could all be done in one shot by taking 625 and multiplying it by 5280 and then dividing it by 3600 to get 916.6666666... feet per second.
round to the nearest 10th to get 916.7 feet per second.
