It takes Ashleigh 5 min to type a page of her essay and 1 min to proofread a page. One afternoon she spent 2hr typing and proofreading a total of 38 pages. How many pages did she proofread and show many did she type?

Let x = number of pages typed and y = number of pages proofread
5x + 1y = 120 (2 hr = 120 min
x + y = 38

2 hr= 120 min
she typed T pages and proofread 38-T pages
T+P=38
5T+1P=120
-5T-P=-120
-4T=-82
T=20.5 pages typed. Answer is not an integer
if she typed 20 pages (100 min) and proofread 18 it is 1h18m
if she typed 21 pages (105 min) and proofread 17 it is 1h20 m
if she typed 20.5 pages (102.5 min) and proofread 17.5 pages (17.5 min), that makes 120 min ANSWER
