Question 1133595: The approximate population of a city in South Africa was 460 000 in 1970. In 1980, it was 630 000. Hint: A(t)= A0ekt. Determine the formula describing the population growth. Estimate the population in 2020.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A(t)=460e^kt, do to the number of thousands
A(10)=630
so 630=460*e^(10k)
divide by 460 both sides
e^10k-630/460
ln both sides
10k=ln(630/460)=0.3145
k=0.03145
2020 is t=50 and e^(kt)=e^50*0.03145=e^1.5725
population is 460*e^1.5725=2216.59273
