Question 1133188: The circumference of the earth is 40,098.222 kilometres. A rope has been stretched right around the equator. This rope is then made 12 metres longer and is suspended just above the earth, an equal distance from the earth's surface all the way around.
Which of the following would a person be able to do:
A Wriggle between the rope and the earth's surface in a lying down position.
B Crawl under the rope on hands and knees.
C Walk under the rope - possibly stooping a little
D Twelve extra metres in such a huge distance would make so little difference that you would not be able to get under the rope.

.
The height of the rope above the ground (assuming the Earth ideally spherical) is (or would be in this hypothetical experiment)

    h =  -  =  =  = 1.911 meters.

          I calculated the height as the difference of two radii.

For a normal height person it is enough to walk under the rope.

If the person is enormously high, he would stooping a little.
