            Below find my solution to your problem.


To dilute 5% solution to 1% solution by adding water,  you need to add  4 times as much water as the volume of your original liquid.



Then the total amount of the obtained liquid will be 5 times the original volume,

and it will contain THE SAME amount of medicine as the original solution.



In this way you will dilute the solution from 5% to 1%.
