Suppose the scores for a college entrance examinations are normally distributed with mean 75 and standard deviation equal to 10. What proportions of the applicants will get scores in the college entrance exam between 70 and 90?

for 70, the z is (70-75)/10=-0.5
for 90, the z is (90-75)/10=+1.5
from the table or calculator, the probability of z between -0.5 and +1.5 is 0.6247
