If four clerks could copy a report of twenty four pages in three days, then the rate of work of ONE clerk is 


 = 2 pages per day.


Then  2*6*days = 36 is your equation to find the number of days:  days =  = 3.

Answer. 3 days.

There are many ways to solve problems like this; two other tutors have shown you two very different methods. Let me describe the process I usually use for problems like this.

The 4 clerks copying a 24-page report take 3 days to do the job.

6 clerks instead of 4 decreases the amount of time required by a factor of 4/6, or 2/3.

A 36-page report instead of a 24-page report increases the amount of time required by a factor of 36/24 = 3/2.

So the number of days required for the 6 clerks and a 36-page report is the original amount of time, multiplied by these factors:
