100 * 3 * 12 = 3600 in. (Length of wire).
pi / 4 * d^2 * 3600 = 4 **
d^2 = 4 * 4 / pi * 3600 = 1 / 225 * pi **
d = 0.376 in.

You most likely want diameter of the wire in inches. Volume of the initial copper piece will be equal to the volume of the resulting wire.

36 inches is 1 yard.

d, for the DIAMETER, in inches;
All length or distances are used in their inches units;

d is for diameter, in inches.

If you can understand that equation then the steps for solving d should be clear, uncomplicated.
