A row of 865 trees has 864 spaces between trees.
In the pattern given, 2 consecutive spaces have 2 + 1 = 3 flowers planted.
There are 432 = 864 � 2 pairs of spaces in the 864 spaces between trees.
That means 432�3 = 1296 flowers.
