1. convert lb into oz. 8 lb = 16 * 8 = 128
2. total the weight: 128 oz + 12 oz = 140 oz
3. Divide the total weight by the number of people: 140/8 = 17.5 oz
4. 17.5 oz = 1 lb 1.5 oz per person.
