70 * 3 = 210
65 * 2 = 130
80 * 3 = 240
85 * 1 = 85

total score multiplied by the number of credits for each score is 210 + 130 + 240 + 85 = 665

total credits are 3 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 9

average is 665 / 9 = 73.89.

this is called a weighted average.
