Question 1073368: Some teachers from the university of Wisconsin mailed surveys to 1000 residents of a county in Wisconsin. Of those surveys, only 254 responded about a habit whose scientific name is rhinotillexomania, or its common name, nose- picking. The somewhat disturbing results are summarized below .
Frequency of picking Number of people
Never 22
Sometimes 110
Daily 64
2-5 times daily 55
Hourly 3
A. What is the probability that a random selected person from that county would pick their nose at least twice a day?
B. How accurate do you think these probabilities are in determining the habits of all Americans? Explain.

Hourly

254 people responded, so:
A.55+3/254=0.2283 or a 22.83% chance a randomly selected person picks their nose at least twice a day.
B. These results are probably not accurate in describing all Americans because the sample size is too small; and one county in Wisconsin is probably not completely representative of all Americans. ☺☺☺☺
