Question 1071799: In an old algebra book the section on ratio: a movie projector uses 8 mm film. The images projected on a screen has the enlargement ratio of 1 to 190 with no blurring or distortion. The original negative is 8 mm wide, and projected image is 8 * 190, or 1520 mm.
They are saying the ratio is 8 mm. to 5 ft.
In the same section, 6 inches to 2 feet; the 2 ft. has to be changed to 24 in. to get the ration 6 to 24.
My question: How can the 8 mm. be compared to 5 ft.? Definition in the section; Ratio represents quantities of the same kind and are measured in the same units.
