Question 1065934: I want to mow my lawn this summer but I need a new lawn mower. I can choose a riding mower or a push mower. The push mower has a 1 gallon tank and uses 1/2 tank each time I mow the lawn. In addition, it takes 2 hours to mow my lawn with the push mower. The riding mower, on the other hand, has a 4 gallon tank but only uses 1/4 of a tank to mow my lawn twice a week for 8 weeks, which mower has the best cost/hour deal for the entire summer? (prove it by showing the math)--hint: find out how many times you will mow the lawn, how much gas you need, how much the gas will cost and how long it will take for the entire summer.

Assume gas cost is $4.00 per gallon
------------------------------------------
Push Mower DATA per mow:
(1/2)*1 gallon = (1/2) gallon ; cost = (1/2)($4.00) = $2.00
# of mows in a summer = 2*8 = 16
Cost for the summer = 16*$2.00 = $32.00
---------------------------------
Riding Mower DATA per mow:
(1/4)*4 gallon = 1 gallon ; cost = $4.00
Cost for the summer = 16*$4.00 = $64.00
