.
Edmund Halley, after whom Halley's comet was named, predicted that the comet would appear in 1758.
The comet appears approximately every 76 years.
(a) Use a table to show the years of the next six sightings after 1758.
(b) When will Halley's comet appear in your lifetime?
(c) Write an equation that can be used to predict the years when Hailey's comet will appear.
(d) When will we see Halley's comet again
(a) Do you want I make this table instead of you ?
I don't want to do it and even not going to do it.
YOU do it by adding 76 to 1758 one time, two times, three times and so on.
I hope you are able to add numbers.
(b) Continue until you get a year in your lifetime.
(c) The equation is Year(n) = 1758 +(n-1)*76,
where Year(n) is the year of n-th appearance of the comet counting first at 1758.
(d) Almost the same as (B). Use the formula (c).
Happy calculating !!
