THIS COULD BE THE PROBLEM:
"A metal pipe weighs 5 lb per ft(lb/ft). How much does a three-foot length of the pipe weigh?"
5 lb/ft*3 ft=15 lb-------------notice that the "ft" in the numerator and the "ft" in the denominator cancels leaving only "lbs".
