Question 1063826: Austin and Katie want to balance on a seesaw 6 meters long. If Austin weighs 50N and Katie weighs 23 N, and Katie sit all the way at the end on her side(3m), how far from the center must Austin sit to balance
Answer by addingup(3677) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the Property of Levers:
(W_1)(D_1) = (W_2)(D_2)
Using your numbers:
W_1 = 50
D_1 = x
W_2 = 23
D_2 = 3
Plug these into the Property of Levels:
50*x = 23*3
50x = 69
x = 1.38m
(look at the picture below).
