A bird sitting 16 feet above the ground in an apple tree dislodges an apple. After how many seconds does the apple land on the ground.( Assume no branches slow the apple's fall.)

f(t)=-16t^2+16, the -16t^2 being the distance fallen in time t, the 16 being the feet above ground.
Set this equal to 0
-16t^2+16=0
-16t^2=-16
t^2=1
t=1 (only positive root)
It will land on the ground in 1 second.
