Question 1059112: ) A baker can decorate the day’s cookie
supply four times as fast as her new assistant. If
they decorate all the cookies working together in
20 minutes, how long would it take for each of
them to decorate the cookies working
individually?

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Baker takes x minutes, and in 1 minute does 1/x of the cookies
The assistant takes 4x minutes and in 1 minute does 1/4x of the cookies.
Together, they do it in 20 minutes.
So, 20/x+20/4x=1
multiply everything by 4x
80+20=4x
4x=100
x=25 minutes ANSWER
It takes the baker 25 minutes and her assistant 100 minutes.
1/25+1/100=4/100+1/100=5/100=1/20; 20 minutes check.
