Let w be the width of the new deck. Then the length of the area enclosed by the new deck would be 33+2w, and the width would be 25+2w. So:
(33+2w)(25+2w)-(25x33)=2880
825+116w+4w�-825=2880
4w�+116w-2880=0
w�+29w-720=0
(w+45)(w-16)=0
w=16 or -45
Throwing out the negative result, we get the width of the new deck to be 16 meters. ☺☺☺☺
