Question 1051898: Ref. Question 1051887:
Of a piece of metal. Maybe that will help.

Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's say that I make a statement:you weigh 1/3 of my dad's weight + 24oz. How much do you weigh?
.
What's missing in my statement for you to calculate your weight? That's exactly what's missing in yours:
1/3 of ? (of 1, of 6, of 10, or what?)
3/4 of ? We know it's 3/4 of a number larger than 42 because you wrote that it's 3/4 minus 42 oz. Only you have this information. Check your notes, check your book, talk to class mates. Get the correct information and re-post.
.
Also, dealing with metals and weights you need to provide the specific density of the metals. If you didn't make a note in class or it's not in your book you can find them here: http://www.sequoia-brass-copper.com/wformula.html
.
Trying to help you ain't gonna help unless you "read to understand" and follow up by re-posting ALL of the information in the problem.
