Lisa has a certain number of tiles.
She takes 1/12 of the tiles and puts them in Box A.
She takes 1/4 of the remaining tiles and puts them in Box B.
The rest of the tiles are placed in Box C.
There are 22 more tiles in Box C than Box B.
How many tiles are in Box A?
:
let t = the Original number of tiles
therefore
t = no. of tiles in Box A
therefore
t = the remaining number of tiles
t * = t = no. of tiles in Box B
:
"The rest of the tiles are placed in Box C."
C tiles = t - t - t
C = t - t - t
C = t tiles in Box C
:
"There are 22 more tiles in Box C than Box B."
t - t = t
t = 22
22t = 22*48
t = 48 tiles originally
:
"How many tiles are in Box A? "
*48 = 4 tiles in Box A
