Question 1045869: In an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) valued at $49,050, a couple has twice as many shares of stock in Big Bank Corporation as in Safe Savings and Loan. If Big Bank sells for $115 per share and Safe Savings sells for $97 per share, how many shares of each does the couple own?

Let n be the amount of shares in Safe Savings. Then Big Bank is 2n. So:
97n+115(2n)=49050
327n=49050
n=150
The couple has 150 shares of Safe Savings, and 300 shares of Big Bank.
