How do you determine the loudness in decibels for a sound intensity 5000 times as much as the softest sound.
---
dB = 10log[5000] = 10*3.7 = 37
------------------------------------
And the loudness dB if the intensity is doubled?
dB = 10log[10,000] = 10*4 = 40
