Question 1028551: Hi
A and B are in line with the foot of a building and on the same side of it.B is 80m from the base of the building and the angle of elevation of the top of the building from B is 35 degrees.the angle of elevation from A is 47 degrees.how far is A from the base of the building.
Thanks
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We know that
:
tangent(35) = height of building / 80
:
height of building = tangent(35) * 80 = 56.016603057
:
tangent(47) = height of building / x, where x is distance A is from building
:
x = 56.016603057 / tangent(47) = 52.236327425 approx 52
:
******************************
A is 52 feet from the building
******************************
:
note that as we walk towards a building our angle of elevation to the top of the building increases
