8t + 5r = 212,      (1)     (t = the price of one tulip bulb)
9t + 7r = 266.      (2)     (s = the price of one bag of roses)

Multiply (1) by 7 (both sides) and (2) by 5. You will get

56t + 35r = 1484,   (1')
45t + 35r = 1330.   (2')

Now distract (2') from (1') (both sides). You will get

11t = 1484 - 1330,

11t = 154,


t =  = 14.  Thus the price of one tulip bulb is $14 .

Then from (1)  r =  =  = 20.


Answer. The price of one tulip bulb is $14.  The price of one bag of roses is $20.
