Question 1019114: I am a mom learning how to do new math? My daughter has a question: 2 people ran 3/10 of a mile, 1 was in the lead for 4/5 of that distance, how much would that be? The way I tried to answer is
4/5-3/10=
get the common denominator
4/5 would be 5x2-10 and 4x4=8 so that would be 8/10-3/10=5/10
Is 5/10 the answer? I would appreciate any help you can provide. My daughter is 11 and I am 54 and to say there is a generation gap is an understatement
Thank you!!

4/5 of 3/10 --> multiply
= (4*3)/(5*10) = 12/50
= 6/25 or 0.24 miles
