Hi there,
Make a hotdog = x
and a hamburger = y
7x + 2y = 1000.....(1)
2x + 7y = 1250.....(2)
Multiply (1)by 2 and (1) by 7
14x + 4y = 2000....(1)
14x + 49y = 8750...(2)
Subtract (1) from (2)
.....45y = 6750
.....y = 150
Substitute y = 150
into (1)
7x + 2y = 1000.....(1)
7x + 2(150) = 1000
7x + 300 = 1000
7x = 1000 - 300
7x = 700
x = 100
Hotdogs cost $1.00
Hamburgers cost $1.50
Hope this helps :-)
