2cm of rain has fallen on a sq km of land.
assuming that 50% of the rain has been collected and contained in a pool having a 100m by 10m base, by what level would the water level in the pool have
:
Since only half was collected, assume the depth is 1 cm = .01 meter (10^-2)
Change 1 sq km = 10^6 sq meters
Find the vol of water:
10^6 * 10^-2 = 10^4 cu/meters of water
:
Find the area of the pool:
100 * 10 = 1000 or 10^3 sq meters
:
Find the Height of the water in the pool
= 10 meters
A 10 meter increase in the depth of the water in the pool
