Hi there,
Make width = 'x'
Length = 2x - 3
Area = Length x Width
27 = (2x - 3) x (x)
27 = 2x^2 - 3x
2x^2 - 3x - 27 = 0
Factorise:
(2x - 9)(x + 3)= 0
x + 3 = 0
x = -3 Disregard as -ve
2x - 9 = 0
2x = 9
x = 4.5
Width = 4.5m
Length = 6m
Hope this helps :-)
