Solve: width and length of a rectangle are in the ratio 5 to 8. Find the width if the length is 18 cm more then the width. Please and thank you
-----
Equations:
L = W + 18
----
W/L = 5/8
------
Substitute for "L" and solve for "W"::
W/(W+18) = 5/8
----
8W = 5W + 90
3W = 90
Width = 30 cm
-----
Length = W + 18 = 48 cm
