Question 435982: My word problem is "A full sheet cake is typically 18" by 24" by 2". What is the minimum surface area of a rectangular box that will contain the cake?" I understand how to figure the surface area, but do I add some to these dimensions since the cake will not fit in a box that is exactly the same size as the cake? Thank you.

The length of a rectangular cardboard is 2cm greater than it's width. If the length and the width were each decreased by 1 cm, the area of the card board will decrease by 27cm squared. What are the dimensions of the original piece of cardboard?

and I need W2(?) + L2(?) = P that will equal 124ft.
but having the wording 6ft more than three times is were Im lost.

Question 437710: A dad travels 36 miles in 12 hrs. The son travels double in the same amount of time. Where was the son in 9hrs??? I'm guessing the son traveled double so 72 miles in 12 hrs but that about as far as i got. :( thank you much!!!

The perimeter of square one is 36 cm. greater than the perimeter of square two. The area of squar eone is 243 square cm more than the area of square two. Find the are of the larger square.
