Question 988410: describe how you can use a formula to solve the following problem: the inner edge of a cube-shaped pot have a length of 1.5 feet. how much does it cost to fill the planter if soil costs $4 per cubic foot?

The volume in cubic feet is the measure of the edge cubed. Then you need to decide whether you just care about the actual cost of the soil used, in which case you would multiply the volume by 4. Or, if you want the cost with the restriction that you can only buy the soil in bags containing 1 cubic foot. In that case, round the volume up to the next whole cubic foot and THEN multiply by 4.
